Alleged Attack Six Defendants Arrested for Robbery and Aggravated Assault at WAWA

A strong-arm robbery and assault that took place at a Wawa in New Castle on May 30, 2024, has resulted in the arrest of six people.

Troops responded to a report of a robbery and assault at Manor Park Wawa, 1515 North Dupont Highway, at around 2:51 p.m. The victim had been traveling a DART bus when three male and three female acquaintances approached her, according to troopers who arrived on the scene.

The defendants followed the victim off the bus and into the Wawa, where the altercation went on. The perpetrators attacked the victim inside the business, took his belongings, and then fled on foot, according to police on Friday.

The victim, a male adult whose identity has not been made public, was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering severe injuries. Following the incident, at least one of the man’s eyes swelled shut, according to information obtained by First State Update.

The suspects have been identified as follows: 18-year-old Aryanna Mercado of Newark (Top R), 18-year-old Heaven Mancinelli of New Castle (Bottom L), 18-year-old Destiny Burkett of Claymont (Bottom M), and 18-year-old Jashawn McNeill of Wilmington (Bottom R).

Officers from the New Castle County Police Department and troopers searched for the suspects. The suspects were found wandering close to Mark Drive and Louise Road by a trooper. A foot pursuit ensued as the three male suspects fled into a forested area when they were approached. Police said that after Jashawn McNeill aggressively resisted the trooper, he was captured.

The other five suspects—Chauncey Addison, Ziare Drummond, Aryanna Mercado, Heaven Mancinelli, and Destiny Burkett—were apprehended without any problems after being discovered in a neighboring neighborhood. During the search, the stolen stuff was found.

Once in Troop 2, the six suspects were each given a list of several charges. The following are the accusations and subsequent arraignments:

Charges against Chauncey Addison included first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. After being charged by Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was given a $64,000 cash bond and sent to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.

Charges against Ziare Drummond included first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, and resisting arrest. After being charged by Justice of the Peace Court 2, he was given a $64,000 cash bond and sent to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.

Robbery first-degree (felony) and conspiracy second-degree (felony) were the charges brought against Aryanna Mercado. After being charged by Justice of the Peace Court 2, she was given a $62,000 cash bond and sent to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.

Heaven Mancinelli was charged with two felonies: second-degree conspiracy and first-degree robbery. After being charged by Justice of the Peace Court 2, she was given a $62,000 cash bond and sent to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution.
