WASHINGTON – The manager of the BGR “Burgers Grilled Right” restaurant near Catholic University in Northeast D.C. is allegedly shot and killed by a 19-year-old male.

Jaleil Jones, 19, of D.C., was charged on Wednesday with Robert Lavender’s killing in an indictment.

A grand jury indicted Jones on conspiracy, robbery, first-degree murder while armed, and two counts of having a pistol during a violent crime.

According to investigators, on July 17, 2023, Jones and a companion saw Lavender seated on a bench on Monroe Street in Northeastern Washington, D.C. After work, Lavender was waiting for a ride home. It is said that Jones and the other individual decided to rob Lavender.
